John Thomas Young, Sr., 72, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at Spartanburg Hospital Restorative Care. Born May 2, 1939, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late George Dewey and Lula Mae Simmons Young.
Tommy was retired from Vic Bailey Family Ford, he was an auto mechanic for 40 years, and a member of Cudd Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Nan McMurray Young; daughter, Melissa Carol Nair of Inman, SC; son, John Thomas young, Jr. and wife Ann of Fountain Inn, SC; granddaughters, Payton Ann and Kennedy Brooke Young of Fountain Inn, SC; sisters, Linda Y. Roddy of Boiling Springs, Kay Y. Arthur and Ann Y. Moore, both of Spartanburg; brothers, Robert W. Young of Spartanburg, and Charles Allen Young of Charlotte, NC. He was predeceased by his sister, Helen Y. Cantrell; and brothers, George C. and James E. Young.
Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM Saturday, February 25, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Larry Buchanan. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
