John P. Batten, 77, of Goose Creek, SC, died Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at Trident Medical Center, Charleston, SC. Born May 5, 1934, in Gaston County, NC, he was the son of the late Harry Clifton and Jennie Nina Bess Batten.

Mr. Batten was a U. S. Army veteran and former employee of Lever Brothers.

Survivors include his loving wife, Connie Costner Batten; daughter, Hope L. Batten of Goose Creek, SC; and granddaughter, Patricia L. Batten. He was predeceased by his son, John Patrick "Pat" Batten, Jr.; and sister, Margaret Ann Batten.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the home in Goose Creek, SC. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 25, 2012, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely.
