Gertrude Fortune Foster, 98, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, January 22, 2012, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills-Landrum. Born November 2, 1913, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Eugene and Isabel Dickson Fortune, and wife of the late James Jennings Foster.

Mrs. Foster was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Roebuck and retired from Spartanburg General Hospital.

Survivors include her sons, James J. Foster of Spartanburg, William B. Foster (Judy) of Spartanburg, and Robert I. Foster (Brenda) of Roebuck; daughter, Celena F. Goings (Russell) of Jonesville; grandchildren, Keven Turner, Billy Foster, Brooks Foster, Graham Foster, Shane Goings, and Clint Goings; 14 great-grandchildren; two honorary grandsons; and four honorary great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 26, 2012, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, by the Rev. Jim Oliver and the Rev. Joe Burnett. Burial will be in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, 260 Fairwinds Road, Landrum, SC 29356.
