Edith Varner Smith died July 2, 2012. The daughter of the late R.D. and Mabel Huskey Varner, she was pre-deceased by her husband Joe W. Smith in 2002, and brother Willie Varner of Woodruff in 2009.

She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Dodd and her husband David of Spartanburg, SC, and Renee Ettline and her husband Fred of Charleston, SC, also granddaughters Karen Bloomer and her husband Jeff of Irmo, SC, and Carolee Moore and her husband Rusty of Virginia Beach, VA.

She was retired accountant and office manager for Triangle Ice Company for many years. She and her husband were avid ballroom dancers for years and were active in numerous dance clubs in the area. A member of Bethel United Methodist Church and the Loyalty Sunday School Class, she served on many committees of the church. Members of the Loyalty Sunday School class will be honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 AM Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 12:00 noon in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. David E. Nichols and the Rev. David B. Smith.

Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Association, Inc., 135 Parkinson NSW Ave., Staten Island, NY 10305; or Bethel United Methodist Church, 245 South Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306; or the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
