Doris Cannon Parris, 85, of Spartanburg, died Thursday, January 26, 2012, at White Oak Manor-Spartanburg. Born October 12, 1926, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mamie Cannon, and wife of the late Ralph H. Parris.

Mrs. Parris was a member of Green Street Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 50 years and was a choir member. She retired from First Federal Savings and Loan after 30 years of service.

Survivors include her sons, Steve Parris and wife Janice of Spartanburg, and David Parris and wife Charlotte of Greer; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Judy Cudd of Spartanburg; and special friend, George Peahuff of Spartanburg. She was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at Morningside Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Tom Moore and her grandson, the Rev. Bryan Parris. Visitation will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Green Street Baptist Church, 446 Brawley Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
