Tribute & Message From The Family

Brac Hylton Turnipseed, 37, of Roebuck, SC, beloved daddy and husband, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 24, 2015. Born January 13, 1978, in Spartanburg, Brac was the third son of David E. and Cynthia Garber Turnipseed of Spartanburg, SC.

An avid outdoorsman, Brac loved to be on the water fishing or hunting on his family's property. Teaching the next generation of hunters and fishermen also gave Brac great pleasure. However, nothing made him happier than spending time with his daughter, Eloise Cayman Turnipseed and his wife, Karlen Senn. Brac will be remembered as an adoring husband, father, son, brother, and friend, with a quick wit and boisterous sense of humor.

Brac was a 1996 graduate of Dorman High School. After graduating from the College of Charleston in 2001, Brac worked as a mortgage broker at Mortgage Research Corporation. He attended the Charleston School of Law, where he graduated with honors in 2007. After returning to Spartanburg, Brac practiced law with his father, David, at the Turnipseed Law Firm.

In addition to his parents, Brac is survived by his loving wife, Karlen, and his daughter, Eloise; brothers, David E. Turnipseed Jr. (Selena) of Woodruff, SC, and Lee Turnipseed (Brandi) of Moore, SC; nieces, Sydney, Ryan, and Laney Turnipseed; nephew, Holt Turnipseed; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Karl and Sondra Senn of Sandy Run, SC.

A memorial service for Brac will take place at 1:00 PM Monday, March 2, 2015, at the Tyger River Presbyterian Church, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Doug Cushing and the Rev. Dr. Al Masters. A reception at the church will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, Brac's family requests memorials be made to Eloise Cayman Turnipseed's Education Trust Fund, c/o Karlen Senn, at Palmetto Bank, 101 West Saint John Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.

Words cannot be placed on the amount of sorrow I feel today. A dear college friend, Karlen, has lost a man she was madly in love with too soon. I'm sorry. I'm so very sorry. This couldn't have happened to one of the sweetest families. Please know that you'll see Brac again. God's Word promises a time where "death will be no more" (Rev. 21:4). Eloise deserves her father, Karlen deserves her husband, and the Turnipseeds deserve their son and brother. May you all take the time to find true comfort in God's Word, for it promises a better future not just for us, but for those who remain in God's memory like Brac.

I know we haven't spoken in a loooong time, Karlen, but if you need ANYTHING from me, please let me know.

Brac is love. He will always be someone I wish to become...a truly great person. I will never forget the times we shared, the many conversations on grueling breaks from law school where he introduced me to his best friend Katie. Without them, I would not be able to write my thoughts today. My thoughts are that I am so fortunate to have had Brac as my friend. He was more noble and kind than any local I'd ever known in my own hometown. He welcomed my thoughts, words and friendship. Mostly, he made me feel included and to be included by Brac was so awesomely special. To know him was to love him. My thoughts and prayers are with your amazing family now and always. Going to get a turnip seed tatooed on that hideous flower on my ankle now. Just seems right. Thank you Brac for making the world a much better place than you found it!

Our hearts are just TOO heavy with grief for words. We love you all and will pray that God's Sustaining Grace and Loving Care will cradle you with strength.
