Condolence & Memory Journal

I grew up two houses down the street from Leland and his wonderful family on Andrews Farm Road. My head and heart are filled with wonderful & tender memories of all of them. Leland's parents were faithful friends of my parents and always an inspiration to me as they personified the meaning of great character and kindness to me.
I will never forget the vegetable gardens that Leland grew in the back yard, the time that he accidentally hit me with a golf ball, his love of the Beatles, and his sweet nature. I was blessed to call all of the Bomars friends during my formative years. The world has lost a sweet soul but may it flourish in Heaven. My condolences to Grier, Betsy, and all who loved him.

Leland and I were best friends growing up but I left the area after graduating high school. He went to PC and I went to The Citadel. I returned to Spartanburg to go to Sherman College of Chiropractic and I regret our times together then were sparce. I supposed I was ashamed and afraid that my old friends would not accept the fact that I was gay and partnered. You always think there will be time enough to reuniite. What does any of that matter now.
Please let me offer my heartfelt sorry to you and your family. Leland was always a gentle soul and I will miss him. I only learned of his passing in the last few days. john
