I just heard about John yesterday. I have known John for over 40 years beginning at Lockwood Greene. John has always been a very good friend. I have a lot of great memories with John, the fishing trips, the golf, the cook outs, work and a lot more. My heart is heavy for the family.

Debra,
I was deeply saddened to learn of John's sudden passing. I just learned today, February 10, as my computer has been down. I telephoned Bill and he told me that he also just had learned. John and I were such good friends in school and shared so many great times together. I had recently re-established contact with him over the past year. I truly am at a loss for words to express my sorrow. May God watch over you and your family during this time and give you his blessing of love and comfort.

Working side-by-side with John for almost 15 years, presented me quite a roll model. His thoughtfulness, knowledge, love of family and friendship will always be remembered. John has surely left this world a better place than it was before he came here. I am proud to be one of the engineers that he tried to "polish" and proud to be one of the notches on his old board brush.

John was a nice member of the Northwest High School Class of 1960. It was a close class and there is still that feeling of family. I'm sorry for you, Debra, his children, and his grandchildren, and hope memories of happy and fun times will heal the pain.

John was a classy guy and I will always be thankful to have known him as a friend. He was instrumental to my success in many ways. He was one of the first designers who trained me. Even after a long time and many miles away he maintained contact with me. My sympathies and prayers go out to his family and friends.

I met John while I working at Lockwood Green in Spartanburg in 1978. He was such a joy to be around and especially at all of the get together while at LG. John was such a good person to work with at LG and Jacobs Engineering. I know that he will be missed by so many people that he came in touch with. Sorry to hear about his passing and my prayers go out to his family for their loss.

John; I will forever miss all those old stories we shared over and over for the past 49 years. We surely grew up together in the Engineering buisness. I could always count on you to remember all the names and numbers of everyone we ever worked with (what a memory you had). You will be missed by you imediate family plus a huge extended one! I know we will share a story or two again someday.

I could not believe this sad news when I finally checked my emails. John had been a close friend for so many years that I have lost track of when I first met him at Lockwood Greene long ago. I will miss his fun loving personality, lunches filled with fellowship and humor, car shows, food and wine conversations and more. The world is a little less brighter today!
My deepest sympathy goes out to John's family and many other friends.
Sincerely,
Bill Reid

John was a great person with a big heart. I'll never forget that as a female engineer coming into the Structural Department at LG, he took me under his wing. He would fondly say, "I taught you everything you need to know about engineering." John taught me a lot about engineering and a lot about life. I will miss him.
My prayers go out to Debra and the family.
